Willard competes in MLRA Founders Tribute
Brennon Willard’s early-season schedule rolled on over the weekend when he traveled to Springfield (Missouri) Raceway to honor MLRA founders Randy Mooneyham and Kenny Essary, along with 36 years of racing by the now-defunct sanctioning body.
On Friday, Willard was one of 28 Super Late Model competitors at the quarter-mile track for the event opener. He drove his Willard Cattle No. 3 car to third place in his heat race and began the 30-lap, $5,036-to-win feature from 11th on the grid. He ran in the top 10 early before coming home 14th.
The next night, 27 Super Late Models were at the track seeking the $10,036 first-place prize. Willard was unable to finish his heat and finished sixth in the B-Feature, two positions shy of a transfer spot into the 36-lap finale.
