Camden Murphy Kicks Off Season as Fastest Qualifier at Rockford Speedway in American Ethanol Super Truck Series & Rallies After Altercation On Track
April 14, 2015 – Itasca, IL – On Sunday, April 12, 2015, Camden Murphy #85 was the first out of the gate for qualifying at the Rockford Speedway in Loves Park, IL for the American Ethanol Super Truck Series. He flew around the track with a blistering 18.47 lap time as the fastest qualifier out of fourteen total trucks.
With an inverted field in the first 25-lap feature, Camden had to make a move when any hole was open. On lap 2 there was a mix of trucks that came together out of turn 4, which ended up with the #85 going air born. With caution out on the track, Camden quickly exited the field to make repairs. Before the green flag was waved again, he got Stitches (well-known name for his truck), back out on the track. Murphy finished just outside the Top 5 after restarting last.
After a rain delay for the next feature race, the series inverted the field again in the second 25-lap feature and placed Murphy on the inside of the fourth row to start the race. He immediately started working his way up the field on the outside line landing him in the top 5 within the first 5 laps of the race. For several laps, he was all over the bumper of the #8 of Kurt Kleven until caution came out with 4 laps to go. Murphy nailed the restart and cleared the Kleven by Turn 3 putting him in 3rd place. He and the #26 of Mike Corvo battled the rest of the race and finished the night side-by-side with Murphy earning a third place finish by a nose.
With most of his front quarter panel missing, he was asked how that felt. He commented, “It’s unfortunate what happened but that’s part of racing, things happen. We ended up bending a few vital parts after getting air born so with what we were able to do in the second feature with what we had is awesome. I can’t thank the help that I received enough”

It is amazing the resume Murphy has amassed at a young age. Along the way he has gained respect, earned every position and proven he belongs in the sport of auto racing.
