Rough Start to 2015 season for Murphy
ROUGH START TO 2015 SEASON FOR MURPHY
5/6/15
After coming out of the season opener at Rockford Speedway Camden saw speed in the #85 True Power Racing Oil Ford. After being the fastest qualifier and having troubles in the feature but bouncing back with a solid 3rd place finish, we were expecting just the same for the Joe Shear Classic at Madison International Speedway.
Saturday May 2nd was test day at Madison and the truck was rough all day long. Camden said “We just couldn’t find speed all day long but we finally decided that our 150+ lap tires are not helping us and once we put 2 new Hoosier F48’s on we picked up but were still missing something”. After heading back to C&J Fabrication that afternoon to make some spring changes the CMR team was ready to pick up where they left off at Rockford.
After the first round of practice the truck was getting there and we were satisfied with how it did in practice. With the fear of rain ruining the afternoon we did European style qualifying with 4 trucks going on truck at one time but sometimes it can get a little hairy which had the #85 qualify towards the rear of the pack.
When the heat race came around Camden started on the inside of the 3rd row. As the 8 lap heat race went on he brought it home in a safe 3rd place. For the 30 lap feature the #85 started back in 10th place. 5 laps into the 30 lap event he made his way through the field to 5th place. For the next 10 laps he slowly started reeling in 4th place but once he got to lap 18 the truck started to drastically fall off which caused him to fall back to 8th place and stay there until all 30 laps were completed.
“It is not how we wanted to start off this year. After being on rails at Rockford and having an incident happen in the race to this weekend just having an overall rough weekend is not what we need. We will regroup and figure out what is needed for the next race at Jefferson Speedway”, said Murphy.
A special thank you goes out to our partners The Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, True Power Racing Oil, Car Doctor Jr., Mark Signs, and O’Hare Auto Body for their continued support.
