SOLID DEBUT IN NEW TRUCK FOR MURPHY

SOLID DEBUT IN NEW TRUCK FOR MURPHY

5/20/15

Coming off of two rough starts this season, CMR decided to try something different. They decided to sell Stitches (well-known name of previous truck) and step foot into another truck. That truck just so happens to be past series champion Jerry Wood’s.

Earlier in the week Camden went up to C&J Fabrication to get the seat set and make sure all other things are ready for the next race at the Dells Raceway Park. It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon as there was a threat for rain most of the evening. During both practice sessions the truck only needed minor changes. Since CMR is a father/son team, Camden and his father couldn't get things ready quick enough to go out for the tire scuff session. At most tracks, the Hoosier F48’s and F25’s need a few laps to break in. With that in mind they didn't think they wouldn't have the speed to capture the pole. But they were wrong! Camden went out there and was able to capture the pole AND set a new track record.

The goal for the heat race was to figure out if the truck needed anything for the race. It only needed a minor change before he lined up in the 7th position for the 37 lap feature. By the drop of the green flag the #85 True Power Racing Oil Chevy was on its way to the front. With only 10 to go Camden was making his move for the lead when a caution came out. At the restart he decided to go to the outside of #9 Derek Kraus. Before the drop of the green there was a mix up but the green flag flew because the track was on a time restraint. With the mix up caused Camden to fall to 3rd place and only with a few laps to go, Murphy didn't have enough time to make it back to the front.

With the newer truck in the stable we expect to see a lot out of Murphy and the CMR team this year. But all of it wouldn't be possible if we didn't have our great partners, Ronald McDonald House of Chicago and Northwest Indiana, True Power Racing Oil, Car Doctor Jr., O’Hare Auto Body, Mark Signs, and 83 & Devon CITGO.
