MURPHY CONTINUES TO LEAD THE POINTS AFTER MADISON

MURPHY CONTINUES TO LEAD THE POINTS AFTER MADISON

8/25/15

It was a perfect night for racing at Madison International Speedway as the air was cool and the sun was shining. After the last race at Madison, Camden lead's in the Midwest Truck Series by only 7 points. Going into this past Fridays race, he was holding the American Ethanol Truck Series points lead by 12 points.

Right out of the trailer the #85 Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana Chevy wasn't the way it needed to be. After a short amount of practice, the Father-Son crew worked hard to get ready for Qualifying. With the cool air and 4 fresh tires, the CMR team knew it was going to be a track record breaking day after how close Camden was to it last weekend, missing it by .002 of a second. At the end of his qualifying lap's, Camden wasn't very confident but was still able to break the track record! Unfortunately, his lap time was beaten by two other drivers, which put Camden in the 3rd position after qualifying.

The night was a dual 25 lap feature event, with there being two 25 lap features. For the first Camden started in the 3rd position but at the drop of the green the bottom row didn't start moving with a few trucks passing on the outside. With the laps winding down, Camden was only able to bring it home in the 4th position.

For the second 25 lap feature Camden started in the 4th position and made his charge to the front by the drop of the green. For most of the race Camden trailed directly behind the leader, trying to make his ill handling truck work on the bottom. After a first foiled attempt at making a pass, Camden regrouped and was setting up for one last try with 3 to go. The door was open on the bottom. He took the chance and was doing all he could to make the truck handle. Coming to the white flag, Camden wasn't giving up even as they encountered a lap truck going down the backstretch. As the checkered flag flew, Camden once again made it a photo finish but just didn't have the truck to make it stick on the bottom.

Coming home in another 2nd place finish the CMR team was disappointed with it but also knew it was a solid points night. Camden still holds the lead over second place by 25 points. Next up is Golden Sands Speedway on Labor Day! Check back for more details.

All of this wouldn't be possible if we didn't have our great partners like The Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, True Power Racing Oil, Car Doctor Jr., O’Hare Auto Body, Mark Signs, and 83 & Devon CITGO.
