ANOTHER HARD CHARGE FOR MURPHY AT GOLDEN SANDS

ANOTHER HARD CHARGE FOR MURPHY AT GOLDEN SANDS

9/10/15

Coming into the Labor Day event at Golden Sands Speedway Murphy knew it was a tight battle with only 2 races left in the Midwest Truck Series Championship battle.

Mother Nature wasn't very cooperative during the practice sessions but the team was able to get them in but still didn't want to make any changes as it was drizzling during their practice session. Leading into Qualifying, Murphy knew the truck wasn't how he wanted it just yet but was able to qualify the #85 Car Doctor Jr. Chevy in the 4th position.

For the fast heat Camden started towards the rear and was able to bring it home in a safe 4th place. The 40 lap feature event was at the 3/8 mile bowl in Wisconsin, Golden Sands Speedway. With a mixture of high banking, grass between the wall and the racetrack, and a never ending circle makes for some very interesting racing. At the drop of the green flag, it was just that so Camden decided to save his tires for the end. After the field had gotten sorted out by lap 20, Murphy decided it was time to go. With being in the 5th position, he knew he had to make a hard charge to the front as laps click by quickly at Golden Sands. By lap 31, he finally made his way into second but the leader had a straight away lead on Murphy and the laps were winding down. With 5 to go he was able to get right on the back bumper of the leader and attempted to make the pass below the leader but the leader wasn't allowing that to happen. With the laps still clicking off, Camden had to try something different. The only other way around him was to try the outside line which hadn't been fast or a passing lane all day long but Murphy decided to make it one. He put the #85 machine on the outside of the leader with 2 to go but the leader still wasn't making it easy for him. On the last lap Camden lost all of his momentum after a confrontation with the leader but still tried to make it work coming to the checkered but unfortunately lost it by inches.

With only 1 race left in the Midwest Truck Series, Camden now holds the lead by only 7 points before the final race of the year at Dells Raceway Park on Saturday, September 26th. As for the American Ethanol Truck Series, he still holds the points lead by 15 points leading into the race at Slinger Speedway on Sunday September 13th.

All of this wouldn't be possible if we didn't have our great partners like The Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, True Power Racing Oil, Car Doctor Jr., O’Hare Auto Body, Mark Signs, and 83 & Devon CITGO.
