FULL MOON WAS SHINING ON MURPHY AT THE DELLS

9/29/15

With only a 6-point lead going into the season Finale at the Dells Raceway Park, Murphy knew he had to give it everything he had to get every single point he possibly could to secure the Championship.

The day started off rough as the truck had a lack of grip. The team worked hard all throughout the 10-minute practice to get the truck figured out. Leading into Qualifying Murphy knew he had to get every point possible and lay everything the truck had out on the table. The truck was not handling well but he was still able to qualify in the 3rd spot.

The preferred line at the Dells is the low line as it has the most amount of grip. The high line on the track can have a good amount of grip or none at all. That Saturday evening the high line had no grip what so ever. For the heat race Murphy started on the high side but with the lack of grip, the other trucks in front of him were not able to make any moves and had Camden fell to the 5th place in the 8 lap feature.

With the points lead now at only 3 points after a rough heat race, Murphy had to make a hard yet smart charge to the front. At the drop of the Green, he charged to the front and was able to make it to 2nd around the half way mark. Early on the driving became very aggressive and after a few restarts he had gotten stuck on the outside and at that time the grip was there, but the trucks in front of him did not go. As the race went on, the driving continued to be aggressive. Trouble erupted in turn 2 as Camden’s truck was forced into carnage. Afterwards onlookers felt it was intentional in a step to keep Murphy from the championship. When asked Camden remarked; “ I would hope that is not the case. I have been racing all of these guys for a long time. I want to think it was just close hard racing”. As you can already tell, Murphy's chances of winning the Championship were lost.

It is unfortunate what happened on the track and like Camden said, we truly hope it was not intentional. The last race of the year is this Sunday, October 4th at Rockford Speedway. Camden is less than 15 points out of the lead so this one you don't want to miss! Racing starts at 12PM Central.

All of this wouldn't be possible if we didn't have our great partners like The Ronald McDonald House of Chicagoland and Northwestern Indiana, True Power Racing Oil, Car Doctor Jr., O’Hare Auto Body, Mark Signs, and 83 & Devon CITGO.
