Heating Up!

Just as the summer heats up, Max Pozsgai and the Mike Wallace Racing Technology team are heating up as well!

On July 18th Max and the #10c hit the pavement of the Grundy County Speedway, earning a 2nd place finish to his team mate, Patrick Bruns, for Max's best pavement finish in just his 4th start. "We took the lead at the start but unfortunately didn't tighten the car up enough to hold Patrick off," Max said. "I am still very happy we have gotten up to speed on the pavement so quickly!"

July 23rd was a Thursday night bout at the Farmer City Raceway. After finishing the heat race in 2nd, Max lined up 5th for the feature event. Slicing through traffic, Max found himself in the lead after lap 12 until a caution with two laps to go set up a green, white, checkered. Unfortunately, Max wasn't able to hold on and was passed by USAC veteran Johnny Heydenreich on the last lap. "Sometimes being the leader, you just don't know if you should change lines or what. Unfortunately, the caution erased the straightaway lead we had and got beat," stated Max.

Two nights later the team traveled to 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA looking for redemption, and that's just what they found. Max romped to his first midget win after lining up 8th. "I'm very happy to finally break through and get a win! We have been plenty fast but hadn't been able to get that first win until now. I also enjoyed running on the national tires with this series (IMRA).What a great night!" said Max.

August 1st saw the team travel back to Grundy County, where Max tied for 2nd in qualifying, finished 3rd in the heat, and finished 2nd in the feature for another "top 2." "This (MWR) team is just amazing. They work their butts off to get these racecars changed over from dirt to pavement and its spot on every time it hits the track. I am having fun and we are running great, hopefully we can keep this momentum up!" stated Max.

Max now sits second in the Illini Racing Series point standings to his team mate Patrick Bruns.

Max and the Mike Wallace Racing team will head back to Sycamore Speedway next Saturday night for the makeup of the "Harry Turner Classic."
