Memorial Weekend Racing Results
The dust has settled from the weekend and there's been a lot to think about. On Friday we raced at Cottage Grove Speedway for opening night of the Marvin Smirh Memorial. We ran the outlaw kart and the micro sprint. In the outlaw kart we started second in our heat and finished there. In the main event we started 6th, there was a caution and I thought I had time to have the car worked on and we were just short of making it out before the green. At the next caution we went back out and ran some more laps. With 2 laps to go I hit a giant hole and it knocked the wind out of me causing me to pull off. Had I known there was only 2 laps I would've fought through to finish but that wasn't the case. In the micro sprint we started first in our heat and finished there and the main event was identical and we picked up the win and got some amazing laps.
Saturday we were at Sunset Speedway for the Spring Challenge in the micro sprint. We had a decent night as we qualified 9th which set us up to start front row outside of our heat race. We finished 3rd in the heat and got locked into the A main to start 9th. I decided to hang back and just feel out this new motor and get some laps. We ended up 14th in Saturday nights A main.
On Sunday, with a HUGE amount of help from Chris Thornill, we changed a lot on the car and ended up qualifying 3rd out of 22 which locked us right into the dash. We started 4th in our heat race, a few laps in I felt the motor get into the rev limiter and before I knew it we went up in smoke and broke a motor ending our night and weekend. This definitely was our mistake as we didn't take different factors into consideration as we got faster and faster.
This weekend would not have been possible without our amazing sponsors: RS Race Products, Herz Precision Parts, Big Sky Landscaping, Oregon Outlaw Speed Shop, Hiline Image and Design.
A HUGE thank you is in order for Chris Thornhill and family for helping us with our car on Sunday. We learned so much and we are so grateful to have people like you helping us out. And thank you to everyone at Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday who jumped in and helped fix our car when we pulled off under yellow.
Also a shoutout to the fire and safety crew at Sunset Speedway for getting to me so quick in such an intense situation on Sunday, luckily nothing happened but it's nice to know that you guys are so quick on your feet.
All said and done we aren't sure when we will be back racing. We need to get a few things in order so that we can be ready. We appreciate all the support from everyone this season and we hope we can get back out there soon and keep it going.
