Casey Starr Racing Results From Outlaw Kart Showcase

Our second year at the Outlaw Kart Showcase went better than expected. On night 1 we pulled a #99 pill and that put us to start 5th row inside of heat number 5. We couldn't get the car quit right, went back a couple spots and then made our way back to an 8th place finish. That wasn't the end of our night, however as we were eligible for the "Mystery Feature". How this works is all the C main, B main and A main drivers are put in to separate buckets which they pull 5,7 and 10 names, respectively. They had got to the 5th name of the C main drivers and the driver had opted out of the race. They pulled a 6th and final name and sure enough it was Casey Starr. We pulled a pill for our starting spot, which was 7 and we hurried to get the car ready for this 25 car 30 lap feature event.

We got the car ready and onto the track where they gave us a quick hot laps session. The car was fast and I knew we could make something happen. The signal was given for the 4 wide salute to the fans and then we line up and get the one to go. A few laps in and we drop back to about 13th. This felt like the race that would never end. Finally the white flag comes out and we pass our final car and finish in 7th place, right where we started. This race couldn't have gone better for us.

On day 2 we find out there was some scoring errors and we have fallen back into a last chance qualifier where we have to fight for 1 spot to make it into the C main. As we were pushing up to staging for hot laps the rain started coming down. It rained for about an hour and made for a track no one was expecting. Also while pushing up for hot laps we noticed a slight problem with out motor, and because of the rain we had time to do a motor swap and make it out for hot laps. We started second row outside and finished pretty deep and didn't transfer. The track got super tacky and we didnt make the enough changes to the car. Our night and weekend were over. We had a great time, made some more memories and got great experience in the mystery feature.

We will be back at Sunset Speedway in the micro sprint this weekend for one final race before championship night. We hope to see everyone out there who hasn't made it out yet!
