Mullens sweeps URLMS weekend in Oklahoma and Kansas
Banks $2,000 in Late Model 2025 Debut
WICHITA, Kan. (05/06/25) – Tanner Mullens swapped out his Modified for a Late Model on Friday and Saturday for a pair of events with the United Rebel Late Model Series (URLMS).
The decision proved to be a wise one, as the Modified standout picked up his third and fourth feature victories of the year aboard the Mel Hambelton Ford / Terry Phillips Racing No. 02 Rocket Chassis Late Model.
“This car is just incredible,” Mullens said. “I don’t get to run in the Late Model ranks very often, but it was an absolute blast to drive. I’m really thankful for the opportunity to race it during my off weekends from Modified competition. A big thanks to everyone involved in our program—it truly means a lot.”
On Friday, Mullens drove his No. 02 ride in the URLMS stop at Beaver, Oklahoma’s Beaver County Raceway, He won his heat race on the 3/8-mile oval and started the $1,000-to-win feature from the pole. He led every circuit of the 20-lapper and took the checkered flag 4.516 seconds ahead of Jake Nightingale. Denver Howard rounded out the podium.
The URLMS schedule then shifted to the 3/8-mile Dodge City (Kansas) Raceway Park on Saturday for the rescheduled Tumbleweed Classic. Mullens again grabbed the top spot in his heat, putting him on the pole to start the 25-lap, $1,000-to-win feature. He wired the field for the second night in a row, this time winning with a 5.262-second margin over Nightingale. Third place went to Brandon Corkwright.
