Tanner Mullens sweeps Dave Garmann Memorial at Dodge City Raceway Park
Kansas Native Nets $5,000 Weekend with United Rebel Late Model Series
WICHITA, Kan. (06/17/25) – When weather thwarted Tanner Mullens’ Summit USMTS Modified plans over Father’s Day weekend, he elected to go Late Model racing instead. The choice led to his 10th and 11th feature victories of the year, as he won on back-to-back nights with the United Rebel Late Model Series (URLMS) at Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kansas.
Mullens has won five United Rebel Late Model Series events in 2025 and sits fifth in the point standings despite not running the full schedule.
“(The car) was really good there about to that last yellow (flag), I rolled the nose under when I hit them infield tires and it got pretty squirrely to drive,” Mullens said. “(I’m) just glad to hang on there at the end and thanks to all the fans for coming out, all my supporters.”
On Friday evening, Mullens was one of 21 URLMS competitors at the 3/8-mile clay oval for the first night of the seventh annual Dave Garmann Memorial. He steered his No. 02 Late Model to the fourth-quickest time in his qualifying group, but ran into engine issues that prevented him from running his heat race. However, the local Knight family had the parts Mullens needed at their shop. They got Mullens back up and running and he started 20th in the 20-lap A-Main. He charged through the field and ultimately took the race win over Josh Leonard, Kp Hughes, John Hansen and Brandon Conkwright.
The next night, 17 URLMS Late Models were at Dodge City for the $4,000-to-win finale in which Mullens continued his winning ways.
After finishing third in the pole dash on Saturday, Mullens started from the inside of the second row in the 30-lap main event. He claimed the lead just before halfway and showed the way for the remainder of the race, taking the checkered flag 2.098 seconds ahead of Leonard. Third place went to Jake Nightingale, with Conkwright and Kip Hughes finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.
