Mullens Muscles to the Front to win $4,000 Dave Garmann Memorial

Tanner Mullens parked it in Victory Lane Saturday night, conquering a 30-lap A-Feature with the United Rebel Late Model Series in front of an energized crowd. Mullens drove a picture-perfect race, climbing from third to take the win in a stout 17-car field.

Before feature action, qualifying shook up the record books as John Hansen blistered the track with a lightning-quick 15.695-second lap—breaking the previous record set just one night earlier by Jake Nightingale. Hansen’s lap earned him top honors in Group 1 qualifying, while Nightingale again topped Group 2 with a 15.847.

Heat races saw plenty of early fireworks. Brandon Conkwright, Dan Smith, and Braxten Leonard each claimed 8-lap heat wins, setting the tone for a competitive main event.

When the green flag flew on the 30-lap A-Feature, Josh Leonard brought the field to green from the pole with Braxten Leonard to his outside. But all eyes turned to Tanner Mullens, who methodically worked his way forward and seized control of the race before the halfway mark. Once out front, Mullens never looked back, stretching his advantage and holding steady through the final laps to secure the win.

Josh Leonard crossed the line second after fending off a hard-charging Jake Nightingale, who finished third. Heat winner Brandon Conkwright kept the pressure on to place fourth, while veteran Kip Hughes advanced from ninth to round out the top five.

Behind them, Mike Petersilie stormed through the field from 14th to a strong sixth. Dan Smith, Kelly Yutterman, Braxten Leonard, and Justin Bussell rounded out the top ten.

Though Hansen’s night ended in 12th, his track-record qualifying effort will be one to remember in the books.
