Feger tops Shirley, wins FALS Triple Down Shootout
Jason Feger’s Memorial Day weekend with the MARS Late Model Championship Series was highlighted by his fourth win of the season, which came Saturday at Fairbury Speedway.
The weekend began Friday at Tri-City Speedway, where Feger showed early speed but faded in the closing laps of the 30-lap feature, ultimately finishing seventh.
Saturday’s stop at Fairbury Speedway for the FALS Triple Down Shootout featured a thrilling duel between Feger and Brian Shirley. The two swapped the lead multiple times before Feger took control for good on lap 38, leading the final two circuits to secure the $5,000 payday—his fourth victory of the season.
"These guys have had this track on point all year," Feger said. "They've been doing a phenomenal job, making it two lanes and I don't think it's gonna bump on all year, so man, it sure is nice gonna come up here and get a great racetrack."
Feger wrapped up the weekend on Sunday with a strong showing at Spoon River Speedway, finishing fourth in the $5,000-to-win finale.
Following the strong weekend, Feger jumped 21 points ahead of Ryan Unzicker to take over the top spot in the latest MARS Late Model Championship Series standings.
